Sunday was a beautiful day. After a Friday night of coming home at 5am, I stayed home on Saturday watching Van Wilder and woke up around noon on Sunday. The original plan was to study during the afternoon. Well, that plan never works. I was easily convinced to go on a walk up the Bastille by my buddy Eduardo (Brazil). The Bastille is an old French fortification just above my dorm. It is perched overlooking Grenoble and has some spectacular views of the town and surrounding mountain ranges. The walk was scheduled to leave at 1:30 French time. I thought it would be an excellent time to get to know my new dorm-mates Melissa (Mexico), Vanessa (Colombia/America), Olga (Russia), and Connor (Utah). I also invited buddy Nate. By the way, he is becoming quite the JackAssery Scholar. He has studied the site extensively since he has no classes and is well versed in its lore.
The group was about 15 and left promptly at 2pm. My new friends are very nice. The hike was not too difficult for Fatty. I?ve been practicing by climbing up to my dorm at night after the busses quit. Plus I seem to be losing some Lbs finally. We got to the top and dinked around in the fort and took some picks. In the photo, I?m on the right sandwiched between Melissa and Vanessa. Could not ask for a better day ? sunny, warm, and a great bunch of people!
The only thing better would be for you guys to be here. That and I wished I had an American sandwich. This beautiful creation is a French version of a typical American sandwich. I have never seen one like it in America, so I have no clue why it is called an American. It is 2 beef patties and cheese served on a 12-inch crusty French loaf, and then filled with hot and tasty French fries! It is the cheapest dinner I can get here and by far the tastiest! I get that and a pop for $6 US. I am thinking of doing a cheap eats column for Dr. Swerbious.
