It looks like Batman meets Splinter Cell. Check out this trailer. Not sure if those who play multiplayer games only will care.

Looks pretty sweet. They've been talking about this one for awhile. I've always thought a Batman game should have more of a SplinterCell element (rather than just running around like a fool and tapping the A button to hit).
There's also a new Riddick game coming out (one of my favorite single-player games on the original Xbox) that seems to be similar to The Orange Box in that it has the original game redone with better (better?!) graphics, a new adventure, plus a multi-player game.
Meanwhile, I'm playing RESIDENT EVIL 5 and SAINT'S ROW 2 in 2-player Co-Op when I can (which isn't much).
I tried Halo Wars: Meh. Not my style of game.
Bert - Do you play Gears 2 ever anymore? It's still my favorite game -- even better than Halo 3, though I'll be playing that more when the new Map Pack hits Live.

I haven't had much time lately to even turn my Xbox on. I still have to finish the new Call of Duty game, to say nothing of playing it in multiplayer (I still say CoD4 is the best multiplayer Xbox game EVAR). But yeah, I could stand to get into a Gears match or two, so maybe when the new maps hit, I'll give it another go.

The batman game looks sweet as hell, might be my brand of justice.

I thought Spliter Cell style wasn't your brand, though?

Actually I loved the first Splinter Cell, I'm not sure why I didn't play the others. It seems like it would be fun to apply that to the Batman character.

I have to say, this video has got me really psyched to play this new Batman game.

Holy Schlitz, this game is off the hook!!! I love everything about it - the graphics, the voice acting, the gameplay, and oh - did I mention the graphics? The best I've ever seen in a game. I can't wait until this sucker comes out fo real fo real!

I have confirmed the sweet Xbox Live Gold deal at Meijer. Buy a 3-month card and it activates as a 12+1 month gold membership! Better yet, I bought the card today and got it 15% off with my Meijer card. That's 13 months for $17. 12 months for $49.99 is for suckers! Eat it, bitches!
I'm considering buying another card and adding another 13 months to my present subscription... but who knows, maybe Live will be free in the year 2012 (cross your fingers, Creeko!).
Ok... I'm off to download the Batman demo!

Can you provide a link of some sort so I know I'm buying the right thing?

Nice, I'm going to have to try that. Even if it doesn't work, all you've done is added some time to your membership anyway, I guess.
Speaking of Xbox, I know most of you are simps who can't understand how sweet the Call of Duty series is, but I recently discovered the Nazi Zombies play mode in Call of Duty: World at War. Holy shit, this is super sweet and IMO is better than Left 4 Dead, though to be fair is not as robust, with only a few maps and only 1 play mode. But I'm loving it! I was kind of disappointed by the WaW edition as I prefer Modern Warfare (sequel out in November!) but the additional map packs with these zombie add-ons have breathed new life into my Xbox playing experience!

I just did it too! I paid the full 19.99, so I'm not ZillaSweet, but it still rang up as 12 + 1 months of membership, and the email confirmation said the same. Thanks for the tip, Zills!

I've been playing Shadow Complex (XBL game) and it is sweet as hell, not just for a XBL game either. It is cool and fun to play. I recommend this game without reservation.

Arkham Asylum comes out today and it is SWEET! Playing it now. This is the best game I've played in quite some time. Possibly since Bioshock. And great news: if you pick it up from Toys R Us, you get a $20 gift card, or if you get it today and have a Toys R Us member card (Heather has one), you get a $30 gift card!

So let me ask this: if you get "Disc Unreadable" Errors while
playing, is that a possible precursor to the RRoD? I am playing Batman
and the disc has spent almost zero time exposed - straight from the
case to the drive. I seem to recall Mass Effect doing the same thing
to me before my first (and only thus far) Xbox failure.
And exactly what is the policy these days on them? If I were to get one now, am I SOL?

Looking at this thread, it looks like I bought my first Xbox at the begining of December 06, so I'm coming up on 3 years from my original purchase. And I forgot, this is actually my third Xbox, because the first one was defective almost right out of the gate. Anyway, is there still some kind of 3 year replacement plan thing? Do I just need to ride this Xbox as hard as I can so it will fail before my 3 years is up or what?

My brother Don has a 360 from release day, the dvd drive started failing and yet out of warranty they still fixed it for free! So who knows. If it's the disc, have you tried copying it to the hdd?

I don't think that's a RRoD thing, but who's to say it's not another hardware failure in the works.
Thanks for the Gold membership thing, I'll have to try. Does it say anything about that in the store? Or is it just how it activates?
Creeko--I've just about finished Shadow Complex @100% and I agree. Probably not for everybody, but it's good fun. Cool weapons and an excellent grappling hook in later levels. Word of warning--it's hard to tell from the trailers and propaganda, but it's a platformer (2D). Still sweet, but some of the screenshots imply it's 3D. Pretty good demo though. If you like the demo, you'll love the full game.
Ross, I'm definintely up for Modern Warfare, so if you're going to purchase, let me know. I loved the first one, but playing it alone online is just asking for the chitlin' brand overdose.

Spider, I will be buying Modern Warfare 2 on day one. I loved Modern Warfare probably more than any other online Xbox game. That was one game that I was actually good enough at to consistently score in the top half of most matches I played (or maybe their ranking systems just worked better than other games').
As for the Xbox Live card, there are no clues that it will activate as 13 months, it just does.
Anyway, Batman: still sweet! Hoping that that one disc unreadable error doesn't portend more sinister events, but so far so good...

Spider - Angie has a euchre party Saturday night, so Crockett is coming over and one of us is getting Arkham Asylum and we're playing. You're welcome to join us. I'll have Anna, but should have her to bed and ready to play at 8:30 or so. Letmeknow!
The Meijer Live card thing - apparently a mistake on Microsoft's end with this particular batch of card. EDGE found two different kinds of cards in a GR Meijer, bought both, and fortunately the first one he tried was 12+1 (we suspect the other is newer and correctly 3 months, he returned it).
Bert - Have you copied the game to your hdd? Then if there's something suspect on the disc at least it only needs to read it the one time more than likely.
As for games, I'm planning on Beatles Rock Band and Halo OU812.

I might do that. I'll check the schedule and let you know.

I havent copied it yet as I have a tiny hard drive and freeing up that much space isn't trivial. But I've gotten the error 2 more times so I might be ready to "man up"....

Swerb's back!!!!!!!!
And he has no good excuse for being absent for so long. Let me think about it for a while, and I'll come up with one.
Anyway, I took the plunge and bought a 360! It might arrive from Amazon this weekend and ruin my intentions of fixing my f-ed up yard.
Did anybody else notice that Best Buy has a sweet deal on 360 games? Buy one, get one half off - including pre-orders! Brutal Legend, here I come! But I need a recommendation for a second game. I kind of want a fighting game, like Fight Night 4... but I'm thinking UFC 2009 is more my style these days... any other recommendations?
Also buying Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - it's 10 bucks at Amazon, today only...
I'll loan you Batman if you want - I finished it today. I'll probably fart around with the challenges for a couple more days but after that I'm probably done with it. I loved it, too.
Swerb - Welcome to Rapture! Try not to tease Bert that your harddrive is bigger, ok?
Regarding games: Bells loves UFC, and Fight Night 4 is sweet, but he spends most his time playing NCAA football. I know you're probably not much for shooters, but Spider, Bunky and I would love to play with ya sometime. We play mostly Gears of War 2 -- A new Halo comes out Sept 22 which we'll probably be playing too.
Meanwhile, don't forget to get on Xbox Live using a Meijer 3-month card -- They've been ringing up as 12+1 months around here (that's $20 vs. $50!).
Yeah, Swerb, how do you plan to network this thing? Are you going to do the wireless thing? Are you sure there's no way to do it wired (which I maintain is 100 times better if you can pull it off)?
Anyway, thanks for the tip. I just pre-ordered Butal Legend and COD Modern Warfare 2.
Shit Zilla, I totally forgot about the new Halo. This might get me back playing online with you guys again!
I got a free 12-month Xbox live subscription with my 360, through Amazon. I'll try it wireless, but I'm not much of a competitive gamer, so it may not be a big deal... besides, my DSL offers pretty crappy speeds, so lag might be an issue regardless.
And heck yeah, I'll take you up on the Batman offer, Bert...
Zilla, as long as we're trading copies of Batman around... If it's not already spoken for, can I borrow Batman after you finish it, before you sell/trade/freebase it?
I'm willing to try the new Halo. I'm hoping it's similar to the current Halo brand, but it feels like there will be a lot more stealth-type play. Don't know for sure, but looks like. If you haven't seen the new ad for it, it's hilarious. Of course, they're plugging the pre-orders from Gamestop, but the ad is funny.
Just read a good overview of ODST, specifically the new "firefight" mode here. It's basically Horde (GoW2) mode, but for Halo.
A few interesting notes about the new game. Most of you know you play as an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper (ODST), which sounds pretty cool, until you realize that it's another word for "grunt". As a grunt--i.e. non-Spartan-- you have NO SHIELD. No more hiding behind a crate until your health returns. Instead, you get health packs... BLAH. Also, falls hurt a lot more.

Actually, Spider, that copy of Batman is going to Crockett already. There's enough of us playing, we should start a co-op of some sort!

Well, I got my Xbox and set it up over the weekend but can't get the f-ing thing to connect to the internet. Thus, my admission: I have no idea what I'm doing as far as networking goes. The wireless is detecting my modem, and I put in the encryption code, but beyond that... I test for the connection, and I'm toast. Yes, this may be a plea for help.

Spider, you may want to borrow Batman before Strip Batman Night at ZAGNUT....

Ooh, now you're talking my language, Bunky!
Swerb, if I was in GR I'd help but I don't think you're going to want to wait that long, sorry...

I called Swerb last night. Due to his rockstar-like schedule, he can't pencil me in until next week some time. Yes, that's right, John has a WAITING LIST just to HELP him. :) I gave him a few ideas, but I'll swing over there next week if he can't get it.

Ross, I can only imagine the dialogue in ZAGNUT... "Er ner. Bert's got a bat bern..."
Who's in for killing some bitches online this weekend? I don't think I have played in over a month. Jack will probably be preoccupied with Beatles Rockband or Guitar Hero 6- Chitlin Rock.

...or the Guitar Hero: Smash Hits that I just got!
Actually, tonight it's Rock Band with our friends Mark and Angie. But since the Roches are gone to Chicago this weekend -- and Melissa is my bass player -- maybe I'll play something else this weekend. Not that anyone else is ever on anymore!

So I am finally getting around to playing Dead Space. I started the campaign on Hard thinking I could just dial it back if it was too hard. It was too hard. Only, you can't change once you've started. So, I was about to restart on normal, but I looked online to see if I was missing something. Turns out it's a very different game on normal or easy. Apparently you don't get access to the same equipment? So, I'm playing on Hard.
I also don't like games that emphasize "ammo conservation". I like having to be precise and not spraying ammo, but on Hard, these aliens take 8-10 shots to bring down--first have to shoot-off 3 limbs. Bio-Shock was like that. It's better in later stages of the game, but not great. Hopefully the ammo supply picks up in Dead Space. Especially since I don't have a wrench to use if I run out. Yeah, I can swing my gun, but from what I've seen, that doesn't really do anything.

Thanks to Spider for saving my butt and getting my network configurmated to my Xbox. I'm on Live now! Hooray!
Dead Space is fun, and pretty damn creepy. Enjoying it quite a bit.
And yes, I have a Swerb Sweet schedule. It includes shopping for new carpeting to replace the new shit, and working a shit-ton of hours. Hooray. Oh, and meeting/interviewing Drew Barrymore last Friday, and this week, it will be Michael Moore, who is not nearly as attractive.

... or lispy. Both of them need a beating, for entirely different reasons.
Spider, I agree about Dead Space. I play pretty much everything on Normal, and even then, I felt like it was a constant hunt to secure ammo. Numerous times I didn't have enough in places where there were multitudes of enemies and I'd have to backtrack through long-forgotten map areas to scrounge for ammo. Some might like that, but not me. Bioshock was a million times better - in every way if you ask me. Not that Dead Space was bad, it's just no Bioshock, because frankly, pretty much nothing is.
So, I found a list of 'cheats' online for Dead Space. While I usually try to avoid shortcuts or cheats, I caved (just a little) to save my sanity, and my Sony. It's interesting because there are about half-a-dozen cheats for various things (mostly money and, uh, power-nodes? power... the upgrade-thingies). But most of them can only be used once per playthrough. So they're not for invincibility or anything. They just give you a little bump if you get stuck.
But the one I really like is the slow-down-power refill. It just refills your meter. Doesn't kill the bad-guys, but lets you slow them down all you want. You can use it all you want, and it does not affect achievements (confirmed). Just pause the game (start button) and hit X,Y,Y,X,Y. You'll hear a little tone. When you unpause, your meter will fill up. It doesn't make the game easy, but it does make it manageable.
I'd feel better about the whole thing if there was a melee weapon that worked, as opposed to the gun-swing move that just knocks them around. You can kill them, but you have to hit them a few dozen times.

Isn't time you upgraded? Throw the old 20gig on the family TV so Heather can play Zuma!
