Here is my poor attempt at a panoramic view of my new computer room - the Free Range Command and Control Center (FRCCC). It is nearly complete - I will add one more small desk where the printer sits on top of a filing cabinet. It has been a long road full of fornications getting this room the way I want it, but I'm nearly there.

Looks pretty cool, Bert! What's with the extra monitor up top? Is that to give it a Batcave-like quality? Back at my parent's house I had like 4-5 monitors in my computer room, giving it a "bridge of the Enterprise" kind of look. Unfortunate.

Also, work on the acronym! It needs some vowels so we can pronounce it. Maybe Free Range Unit and Command Center (FRUCC) or something? (FRICCC would be sweet, but I can't come up with anything for that...)

From: Ross Entered on: September 28, 2004 3:35 PM
The extra monitor is a necessary evil - I originally wanted to control all 3 (or 4) computers in this room via one Keyboard/Video/Mouse (KVM) switch. However, no matter what switches/cables I used, my image quality on my main gaming machine produced ghosting which is unacceptable for my purposes. So I hooked the other computers up to the switch. Now, normally, I would connect to them from the main computer remotely anyway and they wouldn't even need their own IO devices, but in the case of startup/shutdown, you kind of need to be directly plugged in.

What's really cool is I realized while constructing the hutch that if I removed the base from the secondary monitor, I could build the monitor into the middle cubby hole - it won't fit thru the hole but it can fit in the space if you drop it in from the top. Alas, I realized it a bit too late. So basically that monitor gets very little use, though I do sometimes turn it on and keep a rolling log of Jackassery activity to make me look Extra Sweet, like a Star Trek console or something.

FRICCC: Free Range International Command and Control Center

Looks good, Bert. Happy spanking!

BTW, does the desk come with a kleenex dispenser?

From: BigFatty Entered on: September 29, 2004 8:35 AM
Free Range Interface Command Control Center is my vote - but JA is truely international. I just found out that a buddy, living in Japan, frequents the site for Fatty updates.

Also worth adding is a minifridge and a Little Debbie Zebra Cake (TM) dispenser. Nothing like a cool beverage whilst 'interfacing'.

Fatty to FRICCC - I'm OOOOOUUUUUTTTTTTT!

From: Ross Entered on: September 29, 2004 9:56 AM
Roger that Fatty. Get 'em OUUUUUTTTT!

Note that the FRICCC is also The Frank Miller Room. I'm about to put up my "That Yellow Bastard Poster" which I recently framed on the cheap, and I have another small framed picture of Marv from the original book that has to go up. I just got my signed Daredevil/Bullseye/Eleketra picture hanging up as well. Plus I have Sin City coasters and various knick-knacks and whatnot. But adding the term "Frank Miller" to FRICCC only makes it more unpronounceable.

From: BigFatty Entered on: September 29, 2004 10:17 AM
Maybe but if you really HAD to incorporate Frank Miller in to title, I think FRICCC-M would be appropriate for the Miller Room. FRICCC-K for the Kitchen. FRICCC-R for the Ross Station. FRICCC-S for the future shitter room.

I like FRICCC-M - Frick 'em!

For the hell of it I am posting the lastest version of the desk/room now that I have the final piece of the desk (and also more Frank Miller shit up):

From: BigFatty Entered on: October 2, 2004 7:58 AM
It is missing the sign of FRICCC-M above the desk.

Plus, Ross, is that the before and after picture of you standing shirtless? The pic next to the lower monitor! I think it is!!!!! You may need to change the Command Centers name to SPEOSNHG-BERT-CCC (Soft Pornographic Evidence Of Semi Nude Homo Erotic Gayness-BERT-Command and Control Center)

In fact it is - that's a good eye, Fatty! I decided to put it up there the other day since I found it lying in the rubble of the room after painting and cleaning, since I need to re-motivate myself to get my fat ass in the gym. In the past I used to have a fatter picture of myself to put up to remind myself of how fat I used to be. My thinking on this one is that if I sit too long at this desk I'll just keep getting fatter and I need a constant reminder of it.

I love your FRICCC room, Bert. That desk is sweet as hell. Cool Frank shit is a must for any FRICCC room I might add.

As far as getting fat is concerned, I've had a bitch of a time getting my ass up to go to the gym at 6:00 a.m. lately. I'm lucky if I get my ass to the gym twice a week. I need to get motivated my damn self.

Jack - I'm in need of your resources. First, I need a small comic book box. Do you sell them?

Next, I'm wondering if you have yet received the full complement of Dark Knight Returns action figures:

http://www.explosiontoys.com/dcd142.html

If so, I'm thinking of buying the set of four.

Help me Rookies, you're my only hope (well, not really...)

From: Jackzilla Entered on: October 7, 2004 4:48 PM
Dear Customer:

Yes, we sell small (we call them "short") comic boxes: $3.50. Long can also be purchased for only $4.00.

We'll match their price for the Dark Knight Returns figures ($14.95 SRP each... JA Special! Only $44.99 for a set of four!). Let us know for certain that you want a set and we'll set 4 of each to the side. All but Joker are currently in stock -- but we can special order more Jokers).

Thank you for your interest,

ROOKIES

Jack - got the figures. They look great in the FRICCC. Johnnybells should be able to remit the payment the next time you see him.

Cool! Oooh, I forgot about the small comic box you wanted. I guess that'll have to wait til the next get together. Speaking of which, the Gaming Room is under construction! Drywalling should be done in a couple weeks! Then paint! Then tile! Then carpet! Then my Gaming Utopia will be complete!

(Mr Burns style) Excellent....

You ain't thinking of getting rid of the dank, are you, Zilla?

Oh, but Zilla: the dank. The dank!

From: Jackzilla Entered on: October 26, 2004 1:25 PM
*ZIP!*

That one flew right over my head, Creeko! What the stank is dank?

From: Ross Entered on: October 26, 2004 2:25 PM
Took me a minute to figure that out, too. Must be the Spanish-Creeko-English translation facility has a slight fornication:

The "dank" most likely refers to the state of having a "dank basement". With your new painted/carpeted gaming den downstairs, it will no longer qualify as being "dank," which apparently most Spaniards prefer.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: October 26, 2004 4:09 PM
Ahh... so it's just dank as in "disagreeably damp or humid." I thought there was a Simpsons' reference in there that I was missing or something.

So, yes, Creeko: The dank shall be no more; banished from the gaming facility forever. However, the stank (and patented Zilla Cackle) will be in full effect.

So, Ross has FRICCC. What shall I call my gaming room? "Gaming den" just doesn't have that Jackassery-ring to it. Any ideas, kids? Remember: A long title is ok as long as it's acronym is sweet!

ZAGNUT: Zilla's Alcove for Gaming and Neverending Unrelenting Trashtalk

From: Swerb Entered on: October 26, 2004 11:39 PM
ZAGNUT... Hee hee... that's great, Bert.

For your information, Creeko's "the dank" reference indeed comes from the Simpsons. Specifically, the episode where Moe decides to turn the bar into a family restaurant. He sez, "Ah, seems like nobody likes to sit around in a dank pit no more," prompting the quote Creeko supplied us with. In fact, The Dank is the name of the band I will never form. Either that, or The Greased Scotsmen, which would incorporate minstrel-like songs telling the tales of the events of any Simpsons episode - there's already a potential 300+ songs in the non-existent band's repertoire.

From: Creeko Entered on: October 27, 2004 3:13 AM
I knew Swerb would pick up on "the dank" reference.

From: Swerb Entered on: October 27, 2004 7:31 AM
For a Simpsons obsessive, "the dank" is a CLASSIC quote.

From: Ross Entered on: October 27, 2004 8:13 AM
Am I missing something? There has to be more to it than "no one wants to sit around in a dank pit no more" to be considered a reference to "the dank".

From: Creeko Entered on: October 27, 2004 9:09 AM
Actual quote from Simpsons epesode "Bart sells his soul"

Carl: You ain't thinking of getting rid of the dank, are you, Moe?Moe: Ehh, maybe I am.
Carl: Oh, but Moe: the dank. The dank!

And, Ross, you call youself a Simpson fan?

From: Jackzilla Entered on: October 27, 2004 9:36 AM
Shame, Ross... SHAAAAAAAME!

Is that the episode where Bart trades his soul to Comic Book Guy for ALF POGs? "ALF lives on! In POG form!"

From: Swerb Entered on: October 27, 2004 10:51 AM
Correction, Zilla: Bart does not trade his soul to Comic Book Guy. He sells it to Milhouse for five bucks, who in turn trades the soul for Alf pogs. Come on, get yer shit together! Sheesh.

Fans of The Simpsons Alert:

McFarlane Toys has just acquired a license to do Simpsons toys:

The Image Comics-affiliated Todd McFarlane Productions (TMP) has announced its McFarlane Toys division has reached a licensing agreement with Fox Licensing & Merchandising to produce a new line of action figures based on Fox's world-famous, long-running animated series, The Simpsons.

Scheduled to debut this fall, TMP's first wave of Simpsons figures will be released as two different, multi-figure boxed sets. Each set will contain a different group of action figures, and will recreate a memorable moment from the TV show. Following those releases, a full line of Simpsons figures is scheduled for to ship throughout 2006.

Nice! Swerb, have you PERMANENTLY sworn off Simpsons toys?

And what's this I hear about the Family Guy returning to TV? Are we excited?

From: Swerb Entered on: January 19, 2005 12:48 PM
Despite my primordial collecting urges, I can't afford/find room for any new Simpsons toys. So reading such announcements is like dangling a slab of cake in front of a 400-lb. man desperately trying to stay on his diet. So Jack, thanks for torturing me, fucko. :)

And yeah, Family Guy is coming back. Woo hoo! I think the new episodes are going to air soon, but I'm not sure exactly when or on what channel (either Fox or Cartoon Network).

From: Swerb Entered on: February 3, 2005 12:08 PM
Just found this on the Family Guy website:

"The premiere date for the new season of Family Guy has finally been confirmed. No more ?FOX 2005? for us. Oh no, we have a date AND a time. The season premiere of Family Guy season 4 will take place on Sunday, May 1st 9/8c on FOX. Mark your calendars and buckle up? only 104 days to go!"

Also, y'all might want to take note that Seth McFarlane's other cartoon, American Dad, debuts after the Super Bowl. I guess this one is heavy on the political satire. Should be funny...

From: Ross Entered on: February 3, 2005 12:21 PM
Tivo is already set, my man.

Now I just have to watch all 3 seasons of the Family Guy before May 1....
