It was only a matter of time...

Well my friends, after years of mistreating his body my Dad has finally succumbed to the ill effects caused by smoking and drinking . At the doctor's office today the physician recommended my Dad be rushed to a veterans hospital for emergency treatment to his heart. It seems as though his heart is bad along with his liver. Blood flow to his feet was undetectable even with the use of ultrasound. Needless to say I'm not surprised as my Dad has smoked and drank heavy for nearly 40 years. The veterans hospital he is at is in Battle Creek and I will be going to visit him sometime next week. Open heart surgery will take place sometime within the week. Hopefully all will go well and my Dad will be on the road to recovery.

Wow, that sucks. You're right, it's not surprising but it sucks all the same. Hopefully all goes well with the surgery and he'll start down a path toward taking good care of himself. Maybe even hop into the Zone?

Yeah, it does suck all the same. I'm a bit worried to be sure. Hopefully if all goes well he'll quit smoking and drinking and start eating healthier.

My Dad quit smoking cold turkey after almost 45 yrs because of the shittiness of his open heart surgery. Hopefully Roche Senior will do the same.
