JackBook? FaceAssery?
Entered on: June 18, 2009 7:39 PM by Ross

So I was listening to one of my podcasts just now, TWIT, and they were talking about how sites letting people use their Facebook accounts to log into their sites.  I actually noticed this on C|Net the other day, that I could use my Facebook login to login to C|Net.  This is the kind of thing people have been talking about doing for years with things like OpenID but never really got critical mass.

Anyway, I thought maybe it would be a fun experiment to try with Jackassery.  I could make it so that if you login to JA with your Facebook login, you would have the ability to comment on things, but not post new topics or photos or whatnot.  I'd also have to figure out a way to let existing users tie their accounts into Facebook, but that shouldn't be too hard.

Just thought it might help revitalize the site, lower the barrier to entry (though that did result in Morpheus and Neo years ago), and give me a side project to work on at home (I do have 3 months of paternity leave coming up in August).

What does everyone think?
