I call bullshit on Epic and Microsoft. They're saying that matching making in Gears of War 2 is working for all but a small percentage of players.  They cite as their proof that almost 3 million matchmaking games have been played since launch, excluding private games.  Uh, the game sold 2 million copies opening weekend.

So, let's say half of them are on Live, and half of those are playing matchmaking games.  That makes the average about 6 ranked matchmaking games per active player.  I'm pretty sure the number of times we've said 'fuck it, let's play the bots' while trying to find a game is higher than 6.  I would expect the number of matchmaking games to be in double digits by now.

Ass hats.

So it's not even an acknowledged problem?  I was going to look into it but haven't had a chance (spent too much time waiting for matchmaking I guess).

No, they definitely say it's a problem, and it's their number 1 problem (according to them), but it's still not THAT big a problem.  Standard Microsoft down-play.
