Here's a great article on Jumper. Sounds like a good movie. I might even try and see it in the theaters.

Looks cool.  I actually thought from a b-grade sci fi movie perspective, this one looks like it shows promise.  I hope it's decent.

In other cool movie news, we finally have an Indy 4 trailer!  I have to admit that HF looks old as hell, but thanks to fancy camera tricks, he is doing some sweet shit in this thing.

FUCK JUMPER!

INDY 4 LOOKS HELLA SWEET!

"Jumper" sucks.

And my fave line in the Indy trailer? "Aren't you a teacher?" "Just part-time."

Sweet!

And, uh, Bert... where the hell did you find that caricature of me? Hahahahahah!

From The Press - Baconpat uploaded the photo from an oscar article, apparently.  Don't you remember it?  Fatty had the bright idea of cutting it out and using it, though.

Re: Jumper - I see they promote it as by the same director as "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."  That's a good thing?  There's actually people that didn't think that movie sucked?

Weren't you watching that secretly on your XBOX last night before you jumped over to Halo, or was it Crank Gawkers, I forget...

I am sure Rad will know what video you were watching...

Yeah, tying the director to Bourne Identity would have been a much smarter move, IMO.  Of course, this movie sounds like it's closer to M&MS than Bourne...

First of all -

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY YOU MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!! Kiss

NickNick - how the hell did you miss this opportunity??  This might go on your permanent record.

I am all for Indy 4!!!!  It is very exciting!!!  The trailer is sweet... BUT, one scene, the one with the two cars on the cliff... well, it looked liked the special effects team did not move past the technologies they used 20 years ago - in the old Indy films.  Plus, my computer froze for a second when the girl was getting T-boned in the car - fake-looking as hell.

"Please assume brace-position before incurring the Wrath of Ross(TM)"

Even with those minor quips, I am certainly looking forward to this one!

OMG! Zilla and I were just discussing Nick Nick not going for the V-Day shout out!

However Fatty, you did not set it up as a new post...

From: BigFatty Entered on: February 14, 2008 5:36 PM

That is not a requirement, but a newbie move.  Us old schoolers put it wherever we want.  Part of the sweetness, is the suprise.  Easy to do on an answering machine, not so easy on JA.  Notice there is an added Kissing Smiley for V-day.  Very subtle in its artistry.  The font is enlarged, but not bolded...  Bunky, these are the little nuances that really bring out the Fuckers in MotherFuckers.  You are a quick study, kiddo.  You will go far.

I finally got to HEAR the Indy trailer (didn't have my headphones and since I'm in the Charlotte office, it wouldn't go over as well for me to be my usual annoying self and blare it for all to hear) so I have to say that just the sound of that whipcrack when he swings onto that car was enough to make me have to dab my undergarments dry...

You don't seem to have the usual Fatty-ness that I have come to expect these last few days! Are you okay? Do you need a hug? A burger medium-rare with all the fixin's?

I remember the caricature, but forgot that Baconpat shared it with everyone. There's a newer, fun version of me here.

I would rather see old-school special effects for the new Indy movie than too much CGI. It works for some movies, but Indiana Jones? That'd be blasphemy.

My concerns: That Indy is aged, but still moves like a young man. That would bug me... the last Harrison Ford movie I saw was Firewall (it sucked), and he was beating up guys half his age. Lame! There's something to be said for an actor recognizing his age - that's why I have respect for Clint Eastwood, who played an aging cop who has a heart attack while chasing a bad guy in "Blood Work."

Then again, if Indy doesn't do some sweet shit in this movie, I'll be pissed...

My biggest trepidation, though, involves one person: George Lucas. He's completely out of touch with reality. Thankfully, he's only got a "story" credit, which means he didn't write any dialogue. Even Spielberg has gotten a bit batty in his old age (digitally removing guns from guys' hands in E.T. and such - and don't get me started on War of the Worlds), but at least he still retains his ability to direct the hell out of a movie.

Well, if you watch the trailer, it seems like they got the age-to-sweetness mix about right: he still clearly has whip skills, and was swinging around, but not with a young man's finesse.  And I also have to say that the scene where he says he's only a teacher part time is so well conceived that I can barely believe it.  If he wasn't already an American icon, that shot alone would make him one.

But you're right, the Lucas factor needs to remain as minute as possible for this to be good.

Jumper.  15% on Rotten Tomatoes.  Ouch.

As a frame of reference, Step Up 2 The Streets (i.e. Electric Boogaloo 2K8) has a 28%.

Happy Valentines Day, here's some crap!

Well.  That certainly will make me re-think my options.  But Waterworld received horrible reviews and did terrible at the box office and I loved that movie.

From: Radmobile Entered on: February 18, 2008 10:39 AM

I liked Waterworld as well NickNick, but I'm afraid we may be the only 2 people on Earth of this opinion.

From: BigFatty Entered on: February 18, 2008 3:41 PM

Good Lord.... Waterworld?????  I wanted to like it, but it was one of two movies in my life I have ever fallen asleep to - in the theater.  I was not tired either.  My date fell asleep too.  She was Japanese, so this was to be expected anyway.  So, I guess I met the only 2 people that liked Waterworld.  Call Guiness!

From: Swerb Entered on: February 18, 2008 7:56 PM

This is a great article for fans of "Waterworld": Pee-Drinking Man-Fish I Have Known.

Some context: A writer at The Onion looked back on underperforming films and titled the column My Year of Flops... I think he's a genius just for coming up with the headline "Pee-Drinking Man-Fish I Have Known."
