Whew.  It's good thing they're not overcharging us for gas prices or I'd be really pissed.

40.6 billion dollars?  Can you even fathom how much that is?  Let me put it into perspective:

If there was such a thing as a billion dollar bill (they could put W's face on it):  It would take almost 41 of them to make 40.6 billion dollars!!!

Want even better news?  Our federal government subsidizes Big Oil with lower corporate taxes and other favorible programs!  Good for them!  They work hard for it!

Seriously, how can this continue!?  We pay for the war with taxes (or a recession or shitty economy) and human lives and Big Oil gets to post record profits every year?   FUCK!

I feel better about paying $3.25/gal for regular right now. Thanks Nick....

Don't even get me started on this one Zilla.....

Pretty sweet - my dad has an assload of Exxon stock, he's got to be happy.  Well, on second thought, he's my dad, and he's not ever really happy about anything.  He probably figures this is the peak before the crash.

And oh yeah, Bunky, I'm sure it's the Democrats' fault for high gas prices, too!

Its pretty sickening.... they get all the support of the government.... a government who will start and fight a war for the industry, one who is give it tax breaks and other benefits, then sit back and watch it take advantage of the citizens.  Sure I am for a free market.... but this is not necessarily a free market.  Competitors just can't enter the market, the entry costs are out of reach for any company....  so it is pretty much an oligopoly.

The oil industry itself good provide the sole funding for the Iraq War just from its profits.  The high price of gas (not cost mind you) is causing economic hardship on the poor and middle class.  It is contributing significantly to our economic slump.

The oil industry has been posting these obscene profits for the past couple of years now.  Has the Bush folk done anything about it????  Anyone.... Anyone....  Shit, at least the Gov't could get a couple Billion back from lifting the F'ing tax break!!!  WTF!!  Why do they need a tax break - is it because they make too much money and the Gov't could not handle collecting all that loot which has been swindled from its citizens?

Unfortunately I can't blame the democrats for that one...

Don't worry Zilla, the Republicans say that you'll see the benefits from "trickle down" effects. I'm waiting to cash in any day now.

From: NickNick Entered on: February 5, 2008 10:22 AM

Yeah.  Because we all felt the great economic benefits of Reaginomics' trickle down effect.

Awww Bunky... go ahead and lull yourself to sleep by turning on Fox News and listening to Bill O'Reilly's soothing tones...

F Ross too!

I don't watch the news, I read it on line! Gotta go, I am on my way to vote in the Primary!

Our California delgates aren't on time out like some states....

Bunky - You're not a Rush fan, are you?  And I'm not talking the Canadian band...

F the Zills for even asking such a thing!

No, to Ross' disappointment I am not... I have never listened to his show. Did you forward my email to Ross?

On a less controversial note, I may be in the Bone's territory in June. I am trying to book a trip to Kauai with a few days on Oahu...

Hopefully I will not encounter any of the redneck skanks who reek havoc on cranks while I am there....

Wow... Bunky's F'in' everyone in sight these days!

So Bunky... who did you vote for today?

From: Ross Entered on: February 5, 2008 4:13 PM

I actually used to listen to Limbaugh back in the day.  I didn't know any better.  I actually remember enjoying him quite a bit, too.  Oh well, live and learn...

From: Bunky Entered on: February 5, 2008 4:21 PM

It wasn't Hillary or Obama....

From: Ross Entered on: February 5, 2008 4:37 PM

I didn't end up voting in Illinois' primary today, mostly because what I want to happen is almost assured to happen: Obama for the Dems and McCain for the Repubs.  Since you don't have to be a registered party member in Illinois to vote in their primary (I'm not registered in either party), I was more likely to vote for McCain since his victory is probably less certain than Obama's in Illinois, but both look pretty certain.

Besides, I am very disgusted with the whole primary delegate system.  The news really doesn't report (often) on just how fucked up it really is and they make it sound like they can actually tell you who "wins" in these contests.  The Chicago Tribune had a good article on it this Sunday though, and it really made the electoral college look like a well designed system by comparison.  Bottom line, we won't really know shit after today.  For example, you know how Hillary "won" the Nevada primary with 51% of the vote compared to Obama's 45%?  Well, Obama still ended up with one more delegate than she did.  If that was the end of the story, it would be simple, but it seems like from there, those delegates elect other delegates who elect still other delegates who may or may not vote the way the popular vote went, based on arcane rules that vary from state to state.

Partisan bullshit, man!

Yeah, let's go full Billy Mitchell with it!

Hey, who is this Radmobile guy?

Billy Mitchell scares me and is not the picture I have in my mind when thinking of getting it on....

From: Bunky Entered on: February 6, 2008 9:21 AM

I plan to be in Oahu June 16-18, and head over to Kauai through the 23rd.
