I have always wanted to use one of these to call someone... but with the advent of caller ID, I think you'd be forced to use something like Yahoo or Skype to place your calls.  Still, it's an intriguing idea...

Back in the day (before caller ID) when my parent's were in real estate they had some really snazzy phones at their offices that let you do conference calls and such.  A few times at night after cleaning or whatever, I would mess with the phones and call two places at once.  When the timing was right -- and they both picked up at once -- it was hilarious!  "Hello?"  "...hello?"  "Who's this?"  etc.  I remember listening to two pizza places talking to each other and trying to figure out what the other wanted.  Often times people would get upset with each other.  Classic.

I used to do similar shit with 3 way calling back in the day.  I used to first call the Time Lady and then call some random person.  To them it seemed like the Time Lady called them, which is some freaky horror-movie type shit.

Ranard worked as an operater for a while and he tried to connect Fatty and I that way but wound up connecting our moms which turned out hilarious. They were doing the whole you called me, who is this routine. Ranard just let them go at it, good times.

He caught me good one time too....  I picked up my ringing phone to hear - 'Welcome to the Gay Mens Hotline.' (or something similar)  I was kinda freaked out thinking how I got the call.  Plus, since I talked for 4 hours, I thought I would have been charged a ton!  Then I heard Ranard laughing on the line.  The worst thing I ever did on the phone was call the operator from a payphone and told them the phone took my quarter.  I gave them my name and address, then they sent me a check for 25 cents.  Thing was, it did not take my quarter, it was all a huge scam!  Fraud!!!  Suckers, I laughed all the way to the bank.
