Swerb, just the man I wanted to talk to. First things first though.
Great title for your blog. Fight Club is one of my favorite movies ever.
I
got a band for you to review. O.A.R. (Of a Revolution). I don't know if
you've ever heard of them. They have a cult like following like Dave
Mathews only a bit smaller. They're from Maryland and they fucking
rock. My girlfriend Michelle turned me on to them about a year ago and
last Saturday I saw them live. Best show I've ever seen.
According to their website ,
they are playing in Rochester, MI and again in Chicago. You ought to
check them out. If you don't think they're fucking awesome, I'm going to
give Dale Nichoson your address.

Vey nice, Swerb! I've added the feed to my Bloglines.
Bone: you sound like a zealot. I despise zealotry in all forms and never partake of it myself.

Don't knock the Bone. The Bone knows music. He was into the Cranberries before they were popular. Right Bone??!!!

Dude, I was into everything before it was popular.

I'm joking, of course. I'm a huge Pearl Jam zealot unless you guys haven't been on the site in the past couple months. Oh, but fuck the Cranberries.

Bone, O.A.R. has played in GR before and I always kind of blew them off
as hippie Deadhead jam-band bullshit without ever listening to them.
I'll check them out if I get a chance. But these days, if it's not
baby-eating, skullfucking metal (or Pearl Jam) I don't listen to it.

Interesting. I was very much looking forward to this one but I must admit the shitty reviews have tempered my enthusiasm some. I will still see it, of course. I just don't know when yet.
"Do not instruct me to itemize my crowded itinerary!" as Calamity Jane just said in the last episode of Deadwood.

Swerb: regarding your latest blog entry mentioning Deadwood: holy shit I agree! Is this show sweet or what?? I'm totally fucking riveted.

You know, the first season of Deadwood was fucking amazing, and the
second one was good, especially when Swearengen and Bullock duke it
out, but petered out a bit toward the end. And this third season?
Awesome almost beyond comprehension. Cy Tolliver dementedly spewing
Bible verse? Calamity Jane talking to schoolkids? Joanie contemplating
suicide? When is Bullock going to nail his hottie wife? And Swearengen
gearing up for a big battle over unofficial control of Deadwood...
fuuuccckkkkkk! I can't wait to watch more!

Ebert has a pretty good article on superhero movies here... or well, it's more like a quick synopsis of his comic movie reviews. Pretty fun to read, really.

Dude, why can't we add comments to your blog? that's what blogs are all about! Get those pesky press programmers on the job!
The comment I want to add: Saying it's okay to hate Star Wars: okay, I can deal with that. But Lebowski? What nutjob would dare??!?
(I'm loving your blog, BTW)

Thanks for the compliment, Bert. I wish I had more time to dedicate to the blog - I'd be more content with its content if I did.
I'm
just lucky we even have blogs in the first place, considering how slow
the paper has been to create an online presence. There has barely been
any promotion of any of the new blogs yet, so I dunno if anybody is
even reading it (although I'm getting a big plug next week when
Superman opens - Douglas' review will be in the paper, and mine on my
blog). I hope user comments are on the agenda for the near future - I'm
glad you mention it, because I keep forgetting to ask them about it.
And
whoever doesn't like Lebowski needs psychotherapy, medication, shock
treatment, a padded cell or a pulse. Actually, it's been waaay too long
since I've seen it.

I just found this page describing the truth/fiction behind Deadwood. Pretty fucking interesting.

Bert: Jesus fucking Christ, was that last episode of Deadwood RIVETING or what? Dority's fight in the street with Hearst's main thug was one of the most intense things on the show EVER. Overall, a fucking juicy episode, man.

Deadwood quote of the year (so far):
"Fuck yourself, with a fist punch up your ass, today, at the present moment!" - Calamity Jane
"Fist punch"! Hahahahahahahhaahahahahahahahaaaahhahhaaaah!!!!
Needless to say, I rewatched that scene probably 30 times, and never failed to laugh my ass off... and best of all, it was in response to a self-righteous Bible quoter. The perfect retort - second only to "That's right, asshole!"
