Finally.  It appears my boycot of StarWars was successful and George finally caved.  I'd actually prefer to see the 1990's remaster where they cleaned stuff up but didn't really 'change' anything but I'm not complaining. Ross,  I recall arguing with you about how evil George is for fucking up my childhood memories with his re-edited crap.  I'll take this as proof that I was correct.

As usual Eric, you twist your original argument beyond recognition.  Your contention was that the revisions rendered the movies unwatchable.  I simply disagreed with that extreme.  I am no fan of (most of) the edits either, but in the absence of any other edition, I was willing to get the mangled DVDs as they were still mostly true to the originals.   That said, these editions excite me.  But I really dislike the Dolby 2.0 mix.  I agree - the 1997 edition would probably be the best one to get.  Maybe in another 5 years or so, they'll release that version too...
