This guy is sweet. Like Batman, he went all over the world to learn from the best.

I think I've seen him fight before, unless I'm mistaking him for someone else. Has he always been bald? I could swear I saw an asian dude like him fighting one time but I don't think he won. I also think it's hilarious that he was world racquetball champion for a couple years as well as being a badass.

Bert - I need an editing option for the news post. Upon reading what I wrote, I'm convinced I'm a kindergartener.

Okay, I'll put it next on my to-do list. In the meantime, I'll fix your typo.

Currently, I'm paddling outrigger canoes, however, when the season is over in Sept, I'm going to take up bad ass fighting. I also considered Relson Gracie's Ju Jitsu academy since it's right here in Hawaii and he is supposedly super fucking sweet, but Grappling Unlimited offers a range of styles. I'll take grappling twice a week and boxing on Fridays.

I have always wanted to get back into martial arts. I'm sure that Chicago must have some decent schools and when I first moved here I did a little research, but at the time, my transportation options were limited; I couldn't drive my car whenever I wanted to since I parked on the street. So I was mostly limited to where I could walk. No good schools seem to be reachable on foot.

Now, I have a garage and my range is expanded, so I suppose I should look into it again. My gym has Tae Kwon Do but they look like a bunch of pansies whenever I see them working out. I am kind of picky about schools too because I want a good mix between how much they do drills versus sparring and if they do tournament fighting at all. Plus I hate kids - if there are kids in your class, you will never learn a damn thing.

Alright, I added the editing of news messages for you guys. Yes, Jack, I know you asked for this first but Bone caught me while I was in the mood to make updates. I still need to do Jack's latest suggestion of putting the comments under the photos in the album, that's next. Let me know if the news editing has any problems.

Hey, this means you can add your worm story, Jack! The edit box is big-size!

Speaking (a year ago) of badass fighting techniques, you guys NEED to see this site:

http://www.catchwrestle.com/index.htm

A guy I work with has a friend who studies with this guy. Apparently he is a badass to beat all badasses. This form of wrestling is specifically aimed to cause pain, and incorporates lots of breaking of bones. It's nasty. Make sure you go to the pages on "The lost art of hooking" and "ripping induced pain".

It seems pretty interesting. There's an interview with Tony Cecchine in a Hawaii Mixed Martial Arts website. Here's the link.

Hopefully I'll finally get off my but and start kicking ass next week. I'm in good shape now.

I finally got off my ass and started my bad ass fighting program. The place I'm going to is absolutely nothing like any Tai Kwan Do or Karate school I've er seen. They teach and prepare you for proffessional No Holds Barred style of asswhupery. Here's the school I'm going to:

It teaches boxing, kickboxing, grappling, and other shit. The instructor is really good and very technical. I'm starting out just going to the boxing classes and learning good technique before moving on to the kickboxing. Yesterday we practiced throwing all kinds of combos, then we sparred with each other. The catch was - only one person could throw punches. The other had to use defense. I had no defensive techniques other than a decent guard. I got clocked a bunch of times but my guard got much better by the end. When it was my turn, the guy I was boxing had been there for a while and had a sweet defense. The only problem was I learned his staegy quickly and popped him cleanly svery times. It was fun. Roche would be loving it.

Damn, that's pretty sweet. I would love to do something similar. Maybe I still can... I remember looking around for schools when I first moved to Chicago but back then I couldn't drive my car at every whim and there were none in walking distance, so I gave up. I should shop around and see what I can find.

I agree that Roche would probably like it and I always said he should have done martial arts at some point in his life. But sheer apathy is more powerful than any martial art.

Yeah, my sense of personnal accomplishment finally beat out my apathy. I figured, I'm 30 years old and if I don't do it now, I'll never ever do it. This was basically the last opportunity I have before I'm too old and apathetic.

I love how Roche gets bagged on in every other subject line. He needs to get his ass on here more often, just to defend himself.
