BURNOUT 3 ROCKS!
Entered on: September 7, 2004 9:05 AM by Jackzilla
BigFatty and I were up past 2AM playing BURNOUT 3 last night! HOLY SHIITE! I've been anxiously awaiting this game and it does NOT disappoint! FAST AS SHIT, CRASHES LIKE CRAZY, CO-OP CRASH MODE and a new race mode where you're encouraged to smash into and TAKE OUT the other drivers! NFS: Underground can kiss my ass, BURNOUT 3 is where it's at!

THIS GAME IS SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Lots of goodies to unlock too! For those that played the other Burnouts, "crash mode" has been brought into the single-player campaign mode. And added to that is the ability to blow up your car after crashing (press B to blowup... time it good and nail a tanker passing by!).

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

By the way , Swerb, I'd consider writing video game reviews for the Press but I'm afraid the editor would edit out some of my "sweets".

Alright, I'll have to fire this baby up to see if it lives up to the hype. I'm starting to come around on racing games - that little one we played last time I was over got to be fun after a while. Maybe I can even get Heather to join in on this one.

By the way, have you guys tried playing SC: Pandora Tomorrow at a gaming night yet? I've never played the multiplayer but it's supposed to be super sweet.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: September 8, 2004 2:19 PM
The Burnout games are about the only racing games I can get Angie to play. The crashes are a lot of what makes it so fun. You don't want to crash, but when you do it's so sweet lookin' that you don't mind it! It's addictive as shit!

We tried SC Pandora multiplayer a little when it first came out. The problem is that you basically HAVE TO have 4 players. You can play with less, but it's not as good. By the way, I sucked at it both playing as the agent and as the mercenary. But its cool, no doubt. I was hoping to have a more intimate gaming night and play it, but we always end up with so many people that it turns into a mega Halo night!

Speaking of which... I can't believe you girls took off early to see a movie last time! How was "The Notebook" anyway? :)

From: Ross Entered on: September 8, 2004 2:26 PM
It was Collateral, thankyouverymuch, and it's quite a manly movie. I'm sure both Swerb and Johnnybells will give strong testimonials.

I wouldn't mind giving SC: PT a try next time I'm in town, if, like you said, we can keep the numbers down a bit and keep the Halo clamorings under control.

Zilla, the Press editors would also get on your case for leaning so heavily on that caps lock key...

Swerb - Do they have a problem with bold? Cuz I can bold like a sumbitch too!

Man, I would love to write video game reviews! But I'm not a fan of deadlines. Seems like more trouble than it'd be worth if it wasn't your primary occupation.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: September 8, 2004 4:26 PM
Yeah, I could see writing a couple would be fun, but the deadline would quickly make it crappy. Plus, you probably can't just do xbox reviews. I ain't playin' no crappy Yu-Gi-Oh Gameboy games!

Holy fucking mega donkey double dick dick Batman! I just watched a fucked up brutal heinous film called "Irreversible" starring mega hottie Monica Bellucci. Has anyone seen this film?

It's a French film by Gaspar Noe. It plays backwards like Memento. Basically Monica Bellucci's character is raped and her boyfriend tries to get revenge. Belluci full on naked in the rape seen = good. Howver, she gets her ass beat so brutally I was cringing = bad. Her boyfriend ends up in some kind of fucked up homoerotic S&M lair. He gets fucked up, this other guy gets more fucked up than anyone in the history of film. It was so violent I almost puked.

Ever see Requiem for a Dream? Compared to Irreversible, Requiem for a Dream is a Disney Film.

There was interesting camera work and weird ass sounds in the S&M lair making for a tense veiwing. The version I saw was in French so I got about 70 percent of the dialogue. I recommend you see this film because... I'm not sure. Some people think it is a cinematic masterpiece, I just want smeone to share the horrific images I saw with me.

From: Ross Entered on: September 9, 2004 7:43 AM
I've seen pics of the Monica Belluci scene from this film online but that's about it - didn't know anything about it. If I see it online anyplace I'll see if I can snag a copy.

Sometimes when I play BURNOUT 3 I'm startled from a wallopingly magnificient, thunderous, chaotic crash I create and a little pee comes out from the excitement.

Maybe I should turn the volume down.

No one else playing? Fatty is gone. Johnny is working. Zilla's all alone in the world...

From: Ross Entered on: September 10, 2004 10:22 PM
I haven't had a chance to start playing yet. I had a long day of doubleheader Cubs games and drinking. Now it's 10PM and I'm at work. Go figure.

Bone, did you get that shit running?

From: The Bone Entered on: September 11, 2004 12:15 AM
I got everything good to go and for some reason the upload to my xbox isn't working. Qwix transfers all the files but it never closes out. It sits there like there's more to transfer. On my xbox, the download file counter is gone indicating a successful file transfer but when I open the games it ain't there. Any ideas?

From: Ross Entered on: September 11, 2004 1:08 AM
I assume you've restarted the xbox once or twice and checked the games list again? I don't know, I have my own issues with Qwix too... do you have the latest version? That might be the problem but who knows:

From: The Bone Entered on: September 11, 2004 11:08 AM
I restarted xbox a couple times. I used the latest qwix. I'll try again with a different game and see what's up.

By the way, after using Mozilla Firefox for almost a week, I've concluded that I'll never use IE again on my home computer. With IE, I was getting viruses and spyware on my computer almost every day. Since switching to Firefox, I've been virus and spyware free. It's built in pop-up stopper is super sweer. The tab function is nice, and pages seem to load faster. It definately is a must for Roche who surfs the nether regions of the net like I do.

From: The Bone Entered on: September 11, 2004 5:13 PM
Success! It turns out I download the latest qwix but accidentily used the old version (I have them both in the same folder). The new qwiz worked like a charm. I let you know how I like Burnout 3 soon. Muffin want's to watch "Along Came Polly" first.

From: Ross Entered on: September 11, 2004 5:29 PM
I found Along Came Polly to be quite a turd, though there is a term introduced in it that I found so funny that I actually woke up from a deep slumber laughing one night where I must have used it in a dream. After you see the movie, see if you can guess what it is.

From: The Bone Entered on: September 11, 2004 7:53 PM
Is it the part when the guy's friend was at the party and he had to leave because heshit his pants when he tried to fart? I think the term he used was "sharted" or something along those lines?

So far Burnout 3 is pretty good. Definitely better than most others. I can see myself getting tired of playing it by myself though.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: September 11, 2004 11:38 PM
Bone - If you poo poo Burnout 3 I will have to shart in your general direction.

From: The Bone Entered on: September 12, 2004 1:19 AM
I just played it for about 3 hrs. I really like it, however I'm kinda lukewarm when it comes to driving games.

From: Ross Entered on: September 12, 2004 10:12 AM
Yeah, it was sharted. I laughed when I saw it, but it's even funnier in a dream apparently.

I also played Burnout for the first time - I'm getting stymied by the fact I only have one course to race on in multiplayer. What do I have to do? Do I play single player and rack up a bunch of race wins or damage points to unlock more tracks/cars? This is getting old fast.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: September 12, 2004 11:54 AM
Dudes - I've hardly even BOTHERED with multi-player yet! Play the campaign/career mode! Just take turns with someone! It's as fun to watch as it is to play! Then you get full-screen, full-effects, different tracks/events AND unlock all sorts of stuff!

If you still aren't entertained (and/or have a desire to see The Notebook at the movies) I got nothing more to say and we should close this thread immediately. And then I will shart on you both.

From: The Bone Entered on: September 12, 2004 4:24 PM
Zilla, I don't mind the game. It's amusing me right now. I like it, I really do. But I prefer to kill people or zombies and sometimes vampires in my video games. I supose I could imagine that these villainous sorts are driving the cars. By the way, I bet I'm better than you at this game. Despite the fact that I'm not as crazy about it as you, I'm good as hell.

From: Creeko Entered on: September 13, 2004 2:32 AM
Them sounds like fightin' words to me.

There's only one way to settle this...

An old-fashion Burnout 3 showdown.

BTW, Fatty, donde está my version of BO3. Daddy needs his fix.

Are you checking your calender for November 11-14???

From: Ross Entered on: September 13, 2004 7:55 AM
Isn't Halo 2 Nov 9?

From: Jackzilla Entered on: September 13, 2004 8:21 AM
Bone - Big words, but rather convenient since you live in freekin' Hawaii! My skills are strong and are not to be taken lightly. In fact, Angie's skills are also not to be taken lightly on this one. We're at 49 golds and counting (I played it at my bro-hair's so I didn't get to advance mine yesterday).

Ross - Halo 2 is indeed out Nov 9. "Princess" will have it about a week early however as he knows someone who works at a video store and they get everything as a store-preview-copy early. I can't wait to give someone a Level 10 Rectal Breach with that Covenant Energy Sword!

From: Ross Entered on: September 16, 2004 11:40 PM
I'm finally getting into this game. I played for an hour or two last night and really had fun. It's got enough varied events to keep you interested and isn't too hard or too easy for my poor driving skills. I give it the thumbs!

But I dunno how much more time I'll be able to devote to it with Star Wars Battlefront being uploaded to my box as I type!

BURNOUT 3 UPDATE: 75 GOLDS!

Bone - What's your SILVER count? :)

Those time trials are the hardest challenges to me (race a course under a time limit). I can't believe the SPEED in much of this game -- and all will no graphical glitches or slowdown. This thing's got a rock solid graphics engine. I only wish it sported system link (which would be entirely possible since it does sport multi-player Live play).

From: The Bone Entered on: September 20, 2004 10:40 AM
Other than the first few time trials, lately I have yet to win a gold. The speed is absurd with boost.

What cracks me up in the races is that you can be number 1 all through the race and crash near then end - your fucked.

I'm not really sure how many silvers I got, I was just kidding. I have about 40 golds with 30 percent game played.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: September 20, 2004 1:37 PM
I was playing one of the time trials yesterday, and despite NEVER CRASHING and using BOOST ALMOST ENTIRELY I still didn't get the gold. One round had me at 2:03 and I needed a 2:00. Even when scandalized like that I continue on...

From: The Bone Entered on: September 20, 2004 2:19 PM
I know what you mean, when using the boost for prolonged periods of time it is a matter of luck over skill to prevent a crashing - unless your mitichlorian count is very high.

Creeko - You know what's sweet? By the time you catch up to me (if you can), we'll all be onto Halo 2 (or... Burnout 4!). In other words, gloating time will be over.

Thanks for playing.

BURNOUT 3 UPDATE: 165 golds
I've also finished Riddick, Psi-Ops and am about to finish Breakdown. (in order of sweetness)

Living under third word conditions sucks because I'm dying to get my hands on Halo 2 and Mercenaries oh and Forza Motor sport has me sportin' a wood since I first heard about it.

I think I'm due for another care package from uncle Jack. My mom is coming to visit me next month. Perhaps I could persuade someone to give her some illigal goods to smuggle across international borders.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: January 10, 2005 1:22 PM
Holy shit Creeko! 165 golds is sweet! I'm not sure where I left off -- I haven't played it since Halo 2 hit. I'm somewhere around there though... (gosh, could you even have a couple more than me?!).

Ang and I are quite far into Prince of Persia 2. The game is sweet. My only complaint about the game design is that the puzzles require you to backtrack and go through areas you've been before. It gets a bit confusing as to where to go. They have a map with an objective star on it, but it's not very useful as its a very general map. You can tell if you're getting closer but that's about it.

This past week I've been playing HALO 2 on Xbox Live (yes, I have a virgin box just for this purpose). This means that I can play others whenever I want. Which is real trouble... that game sucks up my free-time and spits it out like nothing. I must be careful to "properly utilize my time effectively" else I'm up til 3AM playing this bitch and tired all day. Not that that has happened. :O

Oddworld Stranger and Mercenaries are two new games that look quite fun. Mechassault 2 was fun at first, but I'm pretty much over it. I'd rather play Halo 2 or GR2 when the gang is over.

From: Ross Entered on: January 10, 2005 1:53 PM
Some guy I used to work with was showing me how Bungie has servers that not only track your kills from online play, but have a MAP showing where all deaths occurred during each round, and by whom. Very interesting stuff. Made me jealous of the xbox livers, if only for a second.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: January 10, 2005 3:20 PM
Halo 2 on Xbox Live is pretty cool. I haven't messed with XBlink in awhile, but its nice doing everything from your box and not messing with the computer. You can send messages to players (including voice messages), make buddy lists (and check their online status) and create clans. So far, I have one buddy on my list (Princess Rob) who's seldom on. And when he's is on, we can only play games 1 on 1. I don't have any buddys or clan to create my own games.

So what have I been playing? I basically name a general type of game I want to play (free for all, team, etc) and Live creates random games and fits players of similar skill levels into them. Usually it's a slayer game but they throw in Assault, Capture the Flag, etc. every now and then too. This is called "opti-match" and can take a couple minutes (way to long if you ask me considering the number of people playing H2 online).

Coming soon: Downloadable content! You know I can't resist some new levels. Now, will I be able to system link these levels with modded boxes from the get go? Who knows... but I'm sure somebody will find a hack soon after.

Ross - Are you game to try XBLink again? I have my headphones so you can even hear me cackle!

From: Ross Entered on: January 10, 2005 4:09 PM
Yeah, I'll give it a shot, sure. I also have headphones so I can retort with my standard repetoire of "fuck the reload," "I'm going to rape you Jackfuck!" and many other classics.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: January 10, 2005 9:26 PM
I would offer both me and Johnnybells for play but from the reports I've heard, Bells has "outgrown gaming."

(I think that means he's lost his skills, loses to small children, can't get a nut: Thus has taken his toys to the other playground.)

GAMING UPDATE: Angie and I BEAT Prince of Persia: Warrior Within on Saturday! Great game even if it's not perfect.

Also, we just finished watching the first season of Smallville... what a fun series! Radmostank is bringing me Season 2 to borrow today -- can't wait! [Note to self: Rewatch the "Soft Core Lana" segment before returning the Season One set.]

From: The Bone Entered on: January 17, 2005 10:26 AM
Dude, I've been saying all along (well maybe not publicly) that Smallville is sweet. It's got a sort of juvenile feel to it but the stories are generally entertaining and Lana is adorable and Lois has some skill. The best part in my opinion is Lex Luthor. You can watch him struggle with the bad guy in him. There's a lot of foreshadowing used throught the series. Plus I love how they had Christopher Reeves and still use Margot Kidder.

From: Ross Entered on: January 17, 2005 10:39 AM
I also am a fan of the show and I almost feel guilty to say that it's one of the shows I most look forward to watching. And I agree that Lex is sweet. And Lana is hot. But I don't like Lois. First of all, she's way too old to play that character and I don't like her brand. Her boobies are nice, but that's about all I have to say that's positive about her.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: January 17, 2005 11:43 AM
They give Lex some sweet lines too. Recent ones (well, recent for me at least) include an exchange with his ex-girlfriend:

She: Lex, we could have been great together.
Lex: I plan on being great by myself.

I also laughed for 5 minutes when that one scientist made reference to his "lab."
Lex: Don't you mean your barn?

HA HA HA!

I had watched a couple odd episodes in the past and it didn't impress me. But you get into all the characters and sub-plots when you watch them all in order. Angie and I are addicted. And we got a lot a shows to watch yet which is SWEET!

Shame on all you closet viewers for not pointing out this show to me earlier...

From: The Bone Entered on: January 17, 2005 12:23 PM
Smallville and Lost are the only shows I watch regularly. Since I don't have TIVO and they are on simultaneously, I usually pick Smallville and watch lost during the commercials (unless Smallville is a re-run which is a lot of the time).

Ross, I know what you mean about Lois. I absolutely hated her when she debued. Somehow though, she grew on me. I'll still take Lana over Lois any day of the week.

From: The Bone Entered on: January 17, 2005 1:39 PM
Oh, and Jack. I loved those lines you refered to. Lex always has good shit to say. He is a tough motherf'er.

My favorite Lex scene though occurs in a recent episode where some toxic gas leeks from Lex's factory causing everyone who comes in contact to hallucinate their worst fear. Everyone has fucked up scary shit happen to them and in Lex's hallucination, he is standing in the Oval office wearing a white suit suit and a smile while nuclear ballistic missiles are being launched all over the planet. Fucking sweet!

Smallville and Lost is all we've been watching too -- Thanks to DVD and BitTorrent. Commercial Free TV has definately spoiled me.

From: Ross Entered on: January 17, 2005 3:32 PM
Yeah, I don't even Tivo Lost either, as there are two OTHER shows on (smallville and something else, can't remember) at the same time. But with Bittorrent, I have all episodes in easy-to-access format.

I also thought it was sweet recently when Lionel switched identities with Clark (silly overused plot device, though) and was learning about Clark's powers by helping his dad with the tractor. Hilarious.

Fuck whoever said that, Swerb. That mouse is the best one on the market, as far as I know. I have a comparable corded version for my desktop at home and I love it. The forward/back buttons definitely work in Firefox. For the kitchen computer, I got the Logitech keyboard/mouse combo. It's almost $100 but they're some damn fine components:

Are we all seeing Sin City together on Sunday? Maybe lunch at Wendy's. I know Fatty will feel better being able to get fruit with his #1 instead of fries.

Also, is your friend still wanting a box? Are you bringing a harddrive or-?

From: Ross Entered on: April 7, 2005 2:35 PM
I'm bringing you a drive and a check. Don't you worry! Keep your equipment handy and don't sell it to any young whippersnappers.

Sin City is a definite possibility, we can talk it over once Fatty arrives on the scene.

From: BigFatty Entered on: April 7, 2005 3:20 PM
That's a number one combo with cheese minus tomato with a Pepsi. No thanks on the Biggie size. Fruit instead of fries? Never. Well, at least not at Wendy's.

I am at Bert's disposal, he is giving me a lift in the Bertmobile. I will always say yes to a Wendy's outing, and if it coupled with a Sin City show, it makes the day even better. I hear the movie is a little violent and graphic. I hope this is not the case.

Fatness - The fruit at Wendy's I was referring to are not tomatoes. They actually offer a cup of fresh fruit (grapes, mellon, whatnot) instead of fries these days.

Oh yeah, Bert, I keep forgetting to mention this: Stacy is free next Saturday, so if Heather wants to join you on your trip to GR, they can hang out while we're gaming. We will also have the guest room together (finally) so you guys can stay here. Let me know what you guys are planning.
