Lots of new Xbox Games out!
Entered on: November 21, 2003 2:28 PM by BigFatty
The last few weeks have been great for games! Recent additions are Rainbow 6 3, Crimson Skies, True Crime, Grand Theft collection, Need For Speed, Jedi Academy, Counter Strike, Swat, Price of Persia (Jacks Fav). There is also a new Xbox tunneler that lets you play online - Bo-xlink. Find it through Xbox-scene. You start it on your computer, then all the controls are on your xbox. Much nicer than XB Connect where you have to run back and forth. It is free AND it looks like we can host our own games and limit players to our own circle. Here is the link http://www.xboxlink.co.uk/

I beat Splinter Cell and Enetr the Matrix recently. I'm working on Buffy and Medal of Honor Frontline. Other than that I have nothing to add. We should rename this site Doldrummery

Fatty, didn't you see my message talking about xbox games RIGHT BELOW THIS ONE on the main page? :) I was saying in there that Prince of Persia is also my favorite. I tried True Crime for a few minutes but it reminds me of that crapfest that Roche liked called "Dead to Rights." Not sure I want to try it out with all these other good games out.

I will have to look into the new boxlink thing. Xbconnect never did work for me. I want to try Counter-Strike against you fools in GR. Hey Fatty, should I bring my box to GR for Thanksgiving? We should try to get some games going sometime if we can fit it into our schedules.

Roche is MIA. Perhaps that computer I got him is only good for porn at this point.

I don't know what it's going to take to get him back. We need him and Jack to get this site firing on all cylinders again.

Fear not, Bone! One of us is back, although I can't speak for Zilla.

Dude! Bring out your box with lots of room on your HD! You can get your game on! After talking with Johnny this morning, it didn't sound like you were up for any Xboxing. We don't have to do a game night, but we surely can have a smaller, more intimate evening with some game trials and swapping. We just got 3 new games - Spawn, XIII (which looks interesting) and Top Spin. Have not tried them yet. You got to get the new avalaunch dash anyway - it is sweet for box to box sharing and after downloading on your computer, you can un-iso files and send to your box in one step!

Okay Fats, I will bring my box. I don't have much room left on it, though. The only game I really need is Rainbow Six 3, but I assume you have the same version I downloaded which doesn't work. But I'll try it anyway. I also got XIII but haven't tried it yet.

Fats - if you get a good copy of rainbow 6, burn a disk and send my way. After Splinter cell, all else pales. I'm jonesin for a good sniper shot.

Just finished Prince of Persia last night. Great game - I give it an 8.5/10. Lots of fun action, the Prince can pull off Spider-Man-like moves, and more than a few head-scratching puzzles.

Now that Fatty has gotten me into X-link, I am getting into playing Rainbow Six online. Unfortunately, it seems that Jack and I have some really crappy lag between us (on the order of 10x what it needs to be to have decent gameplay) and we're unlikely to be playing together anytime soon. However, Fatty, I was playing for over an hour with that dude Dropknee yesterday and I was having no problems. Perhaps in the future we can find a server we can all play on.

Jack and I played Dropknee late last night. I've played him before and he is real good. The best I've seen is this guy Frag Daddy. Holy shit. I was in a sharpshooter game with him and Dropknee. Frag Daddy was wiping the floor with everyone. He had like 24 kills, Drop 18, and Fatty third with 8. The five other guys where right around me as well. I swear that mofo was getting one shot kills up close and far away EVERY time.

Every time I see Dropknee's name, I think of my quote "Oh the old Ball Buster" refering to Johnny dropping to one knee and shitting his pants.

I'll give you a call when I plan on playing. Fattmann seems to have a good connection and he is fun to play with - same skill level.

Yeah, Dropknee whups me, but he's a really nice guy so I enjoy playing. I just don't like going head-to-head with him. That's not to say I never came out on top, but he probably enjoys a 3-1 or 4-1 ratio over me.

Cool, yeah, I'm looking to play online. My connection was out yesterday but I'm back in effect and ready to catch a whupping. Bone, are you gonna get in on this shit soon too?

I'm looking in to what I need to go online. The problem is my TV is in a different room than my computer so I'll need a really long cable and I'm not really sure what else I need. But once I'm established I'll be rockin the suburbs.

If you have a router (not just a hub/switch) that allows you to do internet connection sharing among the computers in your house, all you need is the long cable to go to your xbox. If you don't, you'll need to pick up something like one of these:

I've had a Linksys version for years and recently upgraded to the wireless version of it - no real problems. I think Jack has a Netgear. Fatty might have an el-cheapo Microsoft one, if I recall.

Fatty, what was the deal last night? I could never hear you on the mic, could you hear me? I actually could only hear about half the people in the game, so the problem was probably on my end. Anyway, that was pretty fun. We'll have to see if we can get Zilla on and play too.

Also, this is an interesting article on how durable the xbox is:

I could not hear you at all. I could only hear Dropknee. So I don't think it was on your end, just the linkup in his room. I jetted to another room and linked up fine. I did notice that in Drop's room, I was only linked to 3 remote boxes instead of all 5. That might have been part of the problem. I only saw your box on his list once, then it disappeared.

It will be much better when we can talk to each other. I'll let you know when I'm on next.

Fatty - have you guys got Deus Ex 2 yet? I'm having trouble playing it off the hard drive. After some research, I have a hunch that it requires two xbe's to have the media flag patched on it. Only thing is, I don't have a patcher outside of the one built into Qwix. Playing the game off DVD works fine though. You guys have any luck?

I finally have a router and the whole setup for xlink, unfortunately I'm stymied by the inabilty for my router to actually route. There's no software to perform port forwarding which it appears is what I need to do. I'll have to read the manual and see how to unfornicate the procees.

From: BigFatty Entered on: December 17, 2003 1:35 AM
Download Xlink on your computer, hook up your box, and let it fly! I did not have to do port forwarding when I first tried it. I did it anyway after a day or do. If there is too much fornication, we can conference call with Ross to hammer home the goods.

I'm up and running thanks to Ross. I only hope that someday he has an enemy submarine after him and I can be of assistance to him. Well anyway, all I need now are some sweet games.

From: Swerb Entered on: December 17, 2003 10:46 PM
LOL!!! Bone, your enemy-submarine comment had me wetting myself.

From: BigFatty Entered on: December 18, 2003 12:21 AM
Lucky for Ross, the only submarine issues he'll have is when he drops a big turd in the shitter and it will not flush. It would be sweet to have you and your P3 buddies fly in and drop some sonar buoys into his toilet. Shoot a torpedo in there and she should flush fine.

Yeah, maybe we could teach you how to wipe your arse properly while we're at it too.
