The Simpsons: Hit 'N' Run is out this week!
Entered on: September 15, 2003 9:37 PM by Jackzilla
GAMESPOT gives the game a 8.3 (GREAT). Review summary:

In every way that matters, The Simpsons: Hit & Run is the game that Simpsons fans have been pining for ever since the days of Bart vs. The Space Mutants. It creates the most accurate representation of the world of Springfield ever put into a game, and it manages to make the gameplay surrounding it quite a lot of fun. Additionally, the game's overall sense of humor is delightfully self-referential, and any hardcore Simpsons enthusiast should have a blast exploring the various levels and pointing out the numerous obscure locations and characters that pop up. It's a bit of a shame that the game does have the few bugs and graphical issues that it does, but ultimately, these few problems shouldn't deter you from checking out what is easily the best Simpsons game released to date. If you're a fan of the show, you owe it to yourself to give The Simpsons: Hit & Run a look.

I can hear the Swerb-channelling-Homer drool noise all the way over here...

Argglarghhllarglll...

Funny thing is, don't look closely at that link, and it looks like Simpson Shit and Run, which would be infinitely funnier.

I love to shit and run. Try running with shit in your pants, I hear it's a hoot. I've sat in my own shit, not much of a hoot though and I don't recommend it.

It's out on the Torrent, fellas!

Well, thanks to Bert, I am now in possession of Simpsons (s)Hit and Run, and it's sweet! Bart's commentary during the tutorial is fucking hilarious, and the game has a suprising amount of depth. Plus, I love kicking things - especially people.

The new Buffy game is pretty sweet as well. My brother and I played Mace Griffin the other day and had a shit tons of fun. I've played Hit and Run with my kids and it was hilarious and fun. So many games, so little time.

Coincidentally, I tried out Mace Griffin for the first time yesterday. Only played it for a few minutes before I got sidetracked wth something else, but I will have to re-visit that one. That makes my list of games on Xbox to play as:

Simpson Shit and Run
Buffy 1
Buffy 2
Mace Griffin
Voodoo Vince
Desert Storm 2

and on the PC:
Freedom Fighters
Jedi Academy
Halo
Homeworld 2
Star Trek: Elite Force 2

Obviously I need to quit my job and get serious. These games aren't going to play themselves.

That's right, Bert. A new career in gaming is just what you need. I can vouch for it, it's a sweet living indeed. Well, maybe not a living, but it is sweet.

I can vouch for it, it's a sweet living indeed. Well, maybe not a living, but it is sweet.

What it lacks in living, it makes up for in sweet, right Johnny Cock Ring?

Fatty and I added Voodoo Vince and Wallace & Gromit to our game list. Both look like fun games! We've also enjoyed playing a budget title called GROOVERIDER: SLOT CAR THUNDER -- It's a blast to play 4-player with! It's got some fairly original gameplay too (kind of a variation on kart racing).

But the real news is what we witnessed on the latest Xbox Magazine Demo Disc! There's two upcoming games that are gonna RULE!

First: PRINCE OF PERSIA! Same publisher as Splinter Cell this game plays like an Indy type game, but the graphics are unreal. Better than Splinter Cell. I kid you not. Watch out for this one!

Second: FULL SPECTRUM WARRIOR is a squad-based tactical combat game. Similar to Ghost Recon or Conflict but more photo-realistic graphics and you don't move your guys but rather give them orders. Unbelievable to watch. The demo disc had a video with narration showing this one off. I bet Fatty had a wet dream about it last night. Bert - Have you seen this? If not, download a video of it NOW!

2 sweet Xbox games just shipped: Road Kill and Max Payne 2!

From: Jackzilla Entered on: October 14, 2003 9:40 AM
I've been eagerly waiting for ROAD KILL! I don't know why there aren't more car combat games!

From: John Entered on: October 14, 2003 10:09 AM
Lord knows we love some car combat games.

I got Road Kill! It's pretty fun - very violent and profane, and somewhat like GTA, though not as good. I anticipate that it would be best in multiplayer.

I anticipate that I will participate and innihilate.

I got Max Payne 2 - it's only out for the PC right now, shipping for PS2 and xbox in a while, I think. I've only played it for a few minutes this morning before work, but I almost called in sick, it was so sweet! The graphics are amazing. Also, interestingly, they got another guy to play Max Payne instead of that perpetually constipated guy. But his voice is the same as before.

From: John Entered on: October 16, 2003 12:22 PM
Constipated? Hell, he almost looked as though he was suffering from an impaction. The pain must have been exquisite to manifest itself so clearly on his visage. That's probably why his name was Payne come to think of it.

The dude they use now has a super square jaw and is overall much more handsome - a model, in all likelihood. I can't say that I'm all for it - I thought the squinty face gave him character. In any case, the game is a huge improvement over the first one in terms of graphics. Everything else seems much the same, which is good because it worked really well in my opinion.

I enjoyed the first Max Payne and I'm looking forward to playing the new one.

Jack - the question now is, when they finally release a modchip for the GameCube, will you pick one up? I'm thinking I will. Granted, it's nowhere near as sweet as the xbox, but it's only $100 and there are a few games on the GC that aren't on other platforms that I'd want to play (There are at least 2 exclusive Star Wars games, and Metroid Prime is supposed to be sweet). What makes me bring this up is that I'm starting to see GC games online now. The release of the chip must be coming soon.

Well, I finished Max Payne 2 last night. Damn, was it short! I could have easily played twice as long on this one without getting sick of it. It was super fun, and the graphics are amazing - I'll be interested to see how they look on the xbox. It's actually using the Half-Life 2 engine, which was supposed to debut with Half-Life 2, but since some assholes had to hack Valve and fuck it up for the rest of us, we have to wait until April for it now.

Have you guys gotten Rainbow Six 3 yet? I've been reading sweet reviews. I haven't played the first two, but from what I'm reading, this one can be played in first person mode only and people claim it's one of the best first person shooters ever. But I can't find it anywhere.

We sure do.... and it is fucking sweet! The sound is unreal. Crank up you dolby, you are in for a treat! I played a little today. You are the leader (Chavez-for those who remember Clancey) of a squad of four. Controlling them is pretty easy. You have them open doors, toss in a flash-bang grenade, then you all storm in. CLEAR! Tons of weapons to choose from - all highly sweet. The realism is super too. Very playable.

I just got Roque Ops too. Don't bother. It is a cheap rip-off of Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid. Compared to Rainbow it is baby shit.

Where did you get it? Rent/copy or BitTorrent or DirectConnect or somewhere else? Are you sure you didn't get the debug beta version? (released by Cisco, I think?) I want this one BAD!

From: BigFatty Entered on: November 2, 2003 2:49 PM
We got it off of suprnova... Not sure if it was the Cisco version. Josh rented it, so we will get a copy of his to make sure. It is totally sweet! It will remind you of that half-life spin-off you liked to play.

I got the Cisco version and tried it today, but it locked up while loading the first training mission. So much for that. I will wait to get the real one, either rent or buy it. It looks like it's good enough to pay for.
